Are you still cranking your pencil sharpener by hand?

Well, stop it!

Simply add a motor to it and you, yes you, can start sharpening the little buggars without so much as a single care.

I went to my favorite shopping mall and selected just the right motor for this application. It had to be one with a shaft the same size as the shaft on the sharpener, which in my case was 1/4".

The next thing to do was make a bracket to hold it all together and install an in-line switch and for this I used a momentary push-button type.

The tricky part was to find a way to attach the two shafts together. Because of the handle, the shaft on the pencil sharpener was already threaded. "Aha," said I, "All I gotta do is thread the shaft on the motor and put put a nut between them!"

When people come into my shop this is one of the things they see that causes them to say, "You got entirely too much time on your hands, Joe."
